Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS)

00ca48b7de935903cee969cd47e52545Multiple Chemical Sensitivity in broad terms means an unusually severe sensitivity or allergy-like reaction to many different kinds of pollutants including solvents, VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds), perfumes, petrol, diesel, smoke, “chemicals” in general and often encompasses problems with regard to pollen, house dust mites, and pet fur & dander.

Multiple chemical sensitivity, unlike true allergies, is generally regarded as “idiopathic” – meaning that it has no known mechanism of causation & its processes are not fully understood.

The problem here is made more difficult still, due to the variable nature of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity from one patient to the next & this often makes treatment with conventional medicine & practices ineffective or inappropriate; for most sufferers with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, the avoidance of pollutants/toxicants is the key.

The symptoms people report are wide-ranging. They include headache, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, congestion, itching, sneezing, sore throat, chest pain, changes in heart rhythm, breathing problems, muscle pain or stiffness, skin rash, diarrhea, bloating, gas, confusion, trouble concentrating, memory problems, and mood changes.

People who have the symptoms may blame them on a major event, such as a chemical spill. Or some may link their symptoms to contact with low levels of chemicals at work, perhaps while working in an office with poor ventilation. Reported triggers include tobacco smoke, car exhaust, perfume, insecticide, new carpet, chlorine, and countless others. Some say that levels of exposure generally considered safe for most people can have an effect on a few.

Why is MCS Controversial?

Many experts and major medical organizations — such as the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology — have stated that the connection between the patient’s symptoms and environmental exposures are speculative and evidence of disease is lacking.

According to the OMS, this syndrome would affect between 12 to 25 % of the world population.

What The Lightning Process Can Do To Help You?

Continually turning on the Physical Emergency Response (PER) will alter the normal functioning of two major systems in the body related to your sensitivity – the immune system and the digestive system.

The Lightning Process approaches Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) by considering why your immune system, which is designed to defend you from dangers, has become oversensitive to certain substances. Then the Lightning Process can give you tools to spot to the PER occurring and calm the PER through specific steps using movement, posture, coaching that, when practiced, can lead to an automatic change in your physiology which can promote improved health and well-being.

See Joanne’s testimonial of success!

Due to the nature of the Lightning Process training we cannot guarantee results as everyone is different. However we have received a considerable amount of positive feedback from clients with the varied symptoms that many people have with food and chemical intolerance experience.
